The Royal Stiltwalkers of Merchtem (Belgium)

Over the past 70 years, the stiltwalkers have performed at many important events, such as world fairs in Osaka (Japan) (1970), Hannover (Germany) (2000), Aichi (Japan)(2005), and Zaragossa (Spain)(2008).

A dream came true when they toured the American state of Tennessee with the group in 1983.  Subsequent performances followed: in 2001 (Branson, Missouri), 2002 (Dallas Texas), 2006 and 2009 (Dollywood, Tennessee).

In special red and white suits and with a big balloon on their heads, the Merchtem stiltwalkers performed breakneck feats during the opening ceremony of the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville.

In 1997, they accompanied Crown Prince Philippe and other prominent people on the occasion of the start of a new flight to Cincinnati in the United States.

In the meantime, they have also performed in China, Hong Kong and Korea.

In recent years, they have also visited new countries in Europe, such as Denmark, Austria, and Romania. The sparkling music section provides the necessary ambiance, gives rhythm to the stiltwalkers and has taken them to dozens of tattoos at home and abroad.
